HI if I got a virus or malware on my laptop can avast free remove the virus or malware without paying for avast internet security?

The reason I am asking this is because when I used avast free before on my computer avast free antivirus told me that it could not remove a virus or malware without me paying for the avast internet security to remove the viruses or malware if I get a virus or malware.
