Does Avast! H.E. have Virus Cleaner?

Does avast! home edition have the integrated virus cleaner like the pro version?

Negeltu,

No it does not, however you can go to the Avast site and download the Avast Virus Cleaner as a separate utility.
It works fine.

Thanks for visiting the forum.

Sorry Techie, but you’re wrong. avast! HE has the integrated Virus Cleaner as well. You just can’t run it whenever you want to (since Enhanced Interface is not available in HE),but it will offer you Virus Cleaner when specific worm/virus is detected that is cleanable by avast! Virus Cleaner (that popup virus warning).

yes…i remember seeing it in home edition

So, if Home Ed has the integrated virus cleaner, it updates as virus database as well and it always is up-to-date? Thanks.

Yes, a special version of avast! Virus Cleaner is stored inside the avast! VPS file - so it's updated during a VPS update (when the Virus Cleaner actually is updated, of course).

Yes, that’s right - it’s part of the VPS file (which is identical in Home and Pro versions) - so it’s always up to date.

Sorry guys…misinterpreted the question.

Stupid me. ::slight_smile:

Thanks guys… I thought so…

Techie,

It’s ok…

I have a question guys ::slight_smile: , the cleaner last update is dated 13/7 while the lasr VPS update is dated 12/7. Does this mean that the cleaner of the installed avast4 is not up-to-date? ??? ::slight_smile:

No,VPS’s are updated regulary, but Cleaner is updated only when certain worm is released. 13/7 was probably released some worm that was added to cleaner. Since then there was obviously no need to add any other worm into Virus Cleaner.

OK, I’ll try to explain. When the Cleaner is updated, it’s compiled and put to web for download (as standalone exe). During the following VPS update, the special Cleaner, included inside the VPS, is updated as well. So, it certainly can happen that the downloadable exe is slightly newer than the one in the VPS file (if the VPS isn’t updated for some time).
Of course, if anything really bad happens, we can release another VPS update just to update the included Cleaner; usually, however, the Cleaner update is not that important - the most important is the detection that prevents the malware from infecting your computer in the first time.

Having said that, I should add that I found a little problem today; due to an error in the building process, the last two versions of the Cleaner didn’t make it to the VPS update - so it wasn’t updated longer than expected. However, it was the first time anything like that happened, and it won’t happen again  Don’t worry, the changes were only marginal, so you aren’t missing anything anyway.

That’s why we can trust in avast!

The truth!

The reliability!

The support!

Yes, Technical … I agree! It’s all here with the avast! team on our side!

What other av even comes close to the support and honesty we get with avast!? ???

NONE OTHERS!!! ;D
