now version available on the net in the sense there is a program update available from avast.
you receive virus database updates daily.

new version is a program update. there will be some fixes in the avast engine. you can see the changes in the new version here : http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-4-home_pro-revision-history.html

update to new version by:

right clicking avast tray icon > updating > program update.

I mean the Avast 4.8 Software said it needs an update
