I’ve used the free version of Avast for years. It’s been great and recently
I purchased the Restore/Rescue disc.
But I currently have one of those email virus problems. I can’t see anything
in Avast that will solve that. I did a full scan and nothing was found.
Is Avast able to help with email virus problems or not? The free version that is.
Crazy virus is sending stuff to all my email contacts.

you mean this happens with no email client (Windows Live Mail , Thunderbird) involved? … well then this is all going on at server level, and that’s not a virus, but an hijacked account issue. Report it to your mail provider and see what they can do. Check your contact list too … for intruders (harvesting the same list actually), and block them if you can.
Avast can only take action if an infection is taking place locally.
