I receive SPAM daily from Avast daily and throughout the day.
It has become extremely irritating. >:(
I have been shopping other security products.
2 of my clients that are in charge of security for fortune 500 companies.
They say the Windows product is a good alternative.

Even with those popups disabled, the app continues to try and upsell you on just about every setting screen. It has definitely become way too spammy.
Sorry but I can’t agree with you on your statement.
I feel the same way, I pay for AIS which comes with some very good apps but they are upgrades and of course cost more. I keep getting sucked in thinking I have free access to them because I can download them but of course it ends there when I have to pay to use the feature and I am not going to pay anything further. I don’t want to be able to download an app I am not entitled to only to find out I have to pay for it. So on that note I am moving on to another virus checker once my subscription is over. I am sad to have to do this as I have been with Avast many many years but I am done because of this!

Personally I would stick with Avast Free, the biggest competitor to avast software paid products.
I have always avoided software suites, I prefer to select my own individual programs.
Hi Jana, you can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI → Settings → Privacy
I have done that. For me its more about the features that come with my suite that I am allowed to download on my computer for instance, under Performance, I can download both Driver Updater and Cleanup Premium which will run a scan and give me the results but to fix it I have to buy the feature. Since I’m not going to do that I now have to uninstall both. If its not part of my suite I don’t want to see it at all but at the very least I want to know before I download it and a scan is run that its extral!!! I don’t appreciate being led on that this is actually part of what I paid for when its not. When my subscription is done so am I.

It shows you what’s included in each of the versions and can be used in conjunction with a custom install
to bypass most of the paid items when you install the product you’ve selected.
I personally always use a custom install whenever I install any program. Avast isn’t any exception to that rule.

I thought one of the things about buying “Pro” (Paid) versions of software was to NOT have ads! I do not just have Pro, I have Avast Premier! So I buy one of the most “complete” and expensive versions of Avast’s software, yet get more ads then I did when I had their free version? Huh?
Now almost daily when I start my computer up, I get warnings about cleaning my PC (yet I have CCleaner Pro). I get software updater ads, I am told I have “147 passwords” open to the internet. Right…
Who cares who does not agree with this? People defending this must be tied in with the company because I cannot imagine ONE person who wants ads coming through their antivirus program! Especially PAID virus programs!
Though you can turn them off, which I did and will see if it actually stops the ads, you should not have to in the first place! I paid for this software for two reasons, get better protection and to NOT HAVE ADS to upgrade. I paid for Premier to have even more features than the Pro version, which is a ripoff because it does not seem to have much more than Pro did and still bombards me with constant ads. I will not be renewing my subscription, since I can get a free version of a competitor product and get less to no ads then I have now!
Avast is not what it used to be! Not to mention the software bundles it wants to install (then you get ads that you have junk on your computer) when you first install it.

If you’re using a paid version, turn off the informational popups.
I have used Avast for a long time, I know what I paid for and what I do not have. Not everyone is a novice and I did the feature comparison when I bought the software. I never buy software blindly and I did not do it when I purchased this either!
My statements still stand and I already disabled them (appreciate the post for helping to disable them, but I did that already after looking up how to quit having constant ads). The point is, I should not even have to and neither should other paid customers. One of the main reasons I bought Pro over the years was to NOT get the ads. I know how to shut off the ads whether the program lets you or not as well, by the way.
No where on the website do I see information about, “Even if you pay for our products, we will still bombard you with ads!”. That is not listed as a feature. I get no less ads with the paid version (in fact, think more) than when I was using Avast Free. That is completely unacceptable and one of the key reasons I paid for it was to have better protection and no ads.
I can understand ads with free versions, a fair trade off for getting helpful software for free. It is when I pay decent money for a product (when there are free/cheaper alternatives) and I still get constant upgrade nagging. I can see in an email here and there “Upgrade your product for X to get X features”.
Antivirus are a necessary evil, but you want one that is as unobtrusive as possible. Constant upgrade ads in the corner of my screen, especially when I am using my computer for important/work related things, is not what I want from ANY software on my computer.
And then you have people like yourself who defend such things? Wow. For me, no thanks and people who promote such things have an obvious vested interest. You are not going to convince me and acting like I blindly bought this software has that “cloud looking down” feel to it. Spare it for someone else! No where does it state you will get ad bombardments even paying for the software and Avast should be ashamed. I used Avast since it first came out on the PC and paid for it many times over. My money will now go elsewhere because I did not pay for spam, I paid for protection!
I thought anti-spyware and anti-virus software protected you from popups and ads? I guess now they are spyware themselves, considering it apparently counts my passwords and begs me to upgrade it constantly!
If you’re using a paid version, have you unchecked the following options via Settings > General > Privacy:
Show offers for our other products
Show offers for 3rd-party products
There should be no ads if those options are disabled.
I monitor many paid Avast systems and none of them gets any ads.

Yes, but the point is being completely missed, why should I, a paid customer, have to disable SPAM (exactly what it is) from my antivirus program? Then the irony, the program states it gets rid of spam and talks of getting rid of junk on your computer. You cannot even make that stuff up! I did disable them after ignoring the problem for a while but constantly having to shut off boxes on my lower screen that cover my video watching and forum sessions, not to mention my work, is not what I signed up for!
I had to Google how to disable ads because I did not feel like menu diving and wanted to know how to do it without fuss. But why should I have to take time out of my productivity to get rid of an annoyance? I have better things to do and I am glad no other of the many programs on my computer do this to me.
A lot of people are not computer savvy and do not realize you can go to a search engine and figure out how to do things. They would not mess with the settings for fear of messing up the software.
My mom is such a person, the ads are obtrusive, annoying, and a show of greed. She would be likely afraid something was wrong or believe her subscription would not be working if she was getting ads. In fact, I had to check my license when I activated my Premier license because even I thought it was peculiar I paid for Premier and was still getting ads! Earlier versions of Avast Pro/Premier did not have this behavior and thus used to be better.
If anything, you should have to enable the ads if you want them (but expect no one to use the option!). Not have to dodge software bundles installing the program, then getting bombarded by upgrade offers while you are trying to enjoy using your computer or doing work from home! Anyone who thinks this is not a problem has an obvious vested interest.
While I appreciate the help offers, I already disabled them. I never turned them on so that means it defaulted to display these upgrade ads. I had to reinstall Windows 10 (and thus Avast Premier) and both times I was getting constant upgrade ads.
I would not turn on such features so the installs you monitor must have already had the settings change to disable the ads. They obviously default to being on. I get:
-“You have 1.27 GB of junk data, click here to fix” (even though I have Ccleaner Pro)
-“You have 147 unprotected passwords, click here to fix” (Not!)
-“You have 10 programs out of date, click here to fix” (Not!)
-“Upgrade your protection” (Yet I have Premier)
Not exact wording but the jist of the pop ups that appear over what I am trying to do, even when I just have Avast running in the background (never clicked the icon or went into it, just active protection running).
