Does Avast work with Mozilla Firefox?

When I use Avast Home Edition with Firefox, the icon of the resident protection stays inactive

Sure avast works with Firefox…
Which Windows do you have?
Can you check, left clicking the ‘a’ blue icon (and details buttom), if any provider is scanning while using Firefox?

I use Win98. All the providers are being executed, but the last verified archive always remains the same. It only changes when I use the IE.

With win98 you need to manually configure the browser to use the web shield.

For IE - broadband users: - Tutorial - Web Shield Proxy Set-up for IE
For IE - dialup users - Tutorial - Web Shield Proxy Set-up for IE (Dial-up)
For Firefox users - Tutorial - Web Shield Proxy Set-up for Firefox

Also see the avast help file, Resident Protection, Web Shield Provider Settings.

I use both Firefox and IE on my Win 98se system.
When I watched the tutorials I noticed that it said that you should not select the box ‘use the same proxy server for all protocols’.
When I checked my settings it is selected, is this a problem???
I have been looking at the web shield on my PC and it is checking all web sites.

You shouldn’t use the same for all protocols, avast is only ldesigned to monitor http protocol and that is the only protocol you should route through the web shield. That option(in firefox certainly) is blank by default so you must have ticked it. Best to follow the advice and untick it.

Thanks DavidR - will do

Thanks for the help and sorry if I’ve committed some grammar errors… I’m Brazilian and I’m not so good in English…
