Only Outlook plugin has a splash screen.
Sure, but uses the Internet Mail Provider (which does not has a splash screen).
Welcome.

So Avast has an Outlook plugin so that it will work with Outlook (full version) ? And if this is the case then [b]JoJoS[/u] has apparently installed this (Avast) pluggin, right ?
I had thought that Avast only had Outlook Express protection, I do know that Clamwin has an optional pluggin for Outlook (full version) which is the only “resident” protection they offer (but I didn’t know Avast had this optional pluggin as well).
Am I correct in concluding that is what you meant ?
The Outlook/Exchange option on the list of avast providers is the plug-in for MS Outlook or MS Exchange email clients.
Other email clients should use the Internet Mail provider, with the exception of ‘The Bat’ email client, that too has a plug-in. That however, isn’t installed by default so if you don’t have ‘The Bat’ you won’t see it.
JoJoS would appear to have both MS Outlook and Outlook Express installed and running. They wouldn’t see the MS Outlook splash screen if it wasn’t installed, the query was why they didn’t see the same splash screen they do for MS Outlook, for OE and the Internet Mail provider doesn’t use/have one.
Sure, it was always there…
Yes.
I won’t call it optional. It’s there, just this and I think the default installation includes this plugin.

It’s good to know that Avast also works with Outlook Express.
I have both Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express. Some mail I setup to use Outlook 2003, and other to use Outlook Express. When I installed Avast, I also setup both Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express, I think that was the reason the Plugin is automatically installed.
Thanx guys.
