Does Foxit Reader contain Ad's

I installed foxit reader today and when I open the pdf file I was suprise to see these ad’s (I think they were ad’s) displayed on the top right hand corner just underneath the minimize and close button. I’m sure I did not install (check) the foxit toolbar, ask toolbar and some ebay sh**.

Can someone that has foxit reader can confirm me if that is normal that they have some ads of phantom, PDF on mobile devices, ebooks, ect in there pdf file.

I have too. Though I opt-out all possible nagwares.

That a huge reason to avoid Foxit imho.
People blame Adobe Acrobat but seems to forget we hate nagwares…

Its one of those applications that has scummed to the Ask.com infliction.

Make sure you do not permit the Ask.com Toolbar install by using the Custom install and un-select eBay shortcut to the Desktop.

Yokenny Im sure I did a custom install and I unselected ebay, foxit toolbar, ask toolbar. Did I miss something else and still nagware is appearing and I dont want to click it by mistake when I hit the close button.

With Foxit? You can’t… it IS a nagware…

Go to Add/Remove Programs and select Ask.com Toolbar.

Somehow that Ask.com Toolbar gets installed even if you don’t want it: ::slight_smile:

FoxIt Reader officially malware!

I’m referring to this ads, although the ask toolbar is another nuisance.

you can remove ads. to remove(3.1.1.0901), right click on the tools bar and deselect advertisement. in previous versions it will be in view menu.

What version of FoxIt are you using, I have 3.1.1.0901 and I don’t have any ads.

But I don’t have the Ask toolbar and there is also a setting if you right click on the toolbar area to remove any Advert as mentioned, see image.

Those ads can’t be removed and I never click on that area.

it can be removed, see pic…

Rubbish, a, I don’t have the ask toolbar and no ads because I have the option unchecked in my previous image, and no ads in Foxit, see image.

Even if I had an ad, something of this size is minuscule and I doubt I would even notice it.

For some reason I do not see the option to remove Advertisements. ???

It used to be there in older versions and I am using Version 3.1.1.0901

you have to right click in the tools bar area and not the menu bar area… got it?, kenny?..

I learn something new each day

teasing?

I’ve learned also… maybe it changes my concept of Foxit…

Thanks nmb, DavidR and Yokenny for showing me in how to get rid of those annoying ad’s. I would have never though of right clicking the toolbar could disable those ad’s.

You’re welcome.
