Hi all,
I have Avast Internet Security and trying to answer a question for someone trying out the Free version. Does the free version protect against the malicious websites and prevent virus downloads? Or do they need the Pro or IS for that? Is there a good comparison chart for the different products anywhere?
Thanks,
Gina
Core protection features are exactly the same in all avast! editions. And yes, avast! does protect against everything you mentioned.
Hi Gina. Welcome to Avast! Forums.
FREE and AIS have the same shields and protect your comp the same way. However, Pro, IS, and Premier have other goodies like safe Zone, sandbox, firewall.
Here. Take a look: http://www.avast.com/en-us/compare-antivirus
Remember: There is no antivirus program that protects you a 100%
Thanks all! Yes I am aware of 100% thing. I have MB Pro and Avast IS running on my system. The person I am helping didn’t think they needed virus protection because they only went to a few places on the net. Well, this weekend they got the Fake FBI virus. I spent three days cleaning the system and talking with Time Warner Cable to remove the block on the modem due to botnet activity that the virus caused.
Needless to say, they learned their lesson and have MB Pro and Avast Free running now, with a plan to upgrade to IS if they like it. I just wanted to make sure that for now, they have the real time virus/malicious site protection.
