I’m IMAP-Gmail and Avast! 5 user.
and set up pretty well like this in avast! 5 email scanner.
imap.gmail.com / 993 / IMAP / SSL smtp.gmail.com / 587 / SMTP / TLS
and also turned off SSL & TLS in my email client. (opera 10.52 mail client)
I send and received few mails for test my avast mail scanning and imap-gmail.
I could find SMTP log(and also realtime bar graph) and avast scanned my outgoing mail pretty well,
but I couldn’t find any incoming mail scan log(and also no realtime bar graph).
I’m little confused about my Avast! 5 scanning incoming mail…even encrypting.
there are no clue about that I could know.
Plz help me. Thank you.
I have the same problem with my settings. I tried everything and can not get it to work. I am using tb3, have the same settings as comma3394. It works fine when I go back to original settings in the mail client. Tried other mail clients and still nothing.
I have tried both IMAP and POP with gmail using the settings that I have seen in several different posts. Help would be appreciated.
I am using winXP 3, tb3, outlook 03, only win firewall on. Cant seem to find out why mine don’t work.
I’m also having the same problem in Thunderbird. If I change my port settings I can’t send or receive with gmail.
I put them back to original settings and it works fine but I keep getting the popup message about SSL from Avast.
Are you using POP3 or IMAP? POP3 should use port 110 in TB, no encryption; IMAP should use 143; SMTP 587. Are you using some other security software along with Avast!?
The settings in the attachment are what work for me with TB IMAP for gmail. Are yours the same (except for the username ). I am also using OA as a firewall. One other place to check is under mail shield/ expert settings/ ssl accounts to make sure avast! has picked up your settings correctly. I use gmail for pop3 also, as well as imap and smtp.
I am using Thunderbird and have done what you have posted and still have issues. Everything is the same as your post for both my mail client and avast expert settings. I am using IMAP but have tried both.
