I use Avast Pro on windows 7 and 8, along with Winpatrol and EMET 4. Would adding Malwarebyte Anti-Exploit and HitmanPro.Alert add me any benefit or is what they do already covered by Avast Pro? Reading about them makes me think I need them but I do not want to overload my systems with something I do not need and Avast already has me covered. Thanks slybo
Personally I would say no, you can get too much of a good thing. Reading about anything is going to try to convince you that you need it.
EMET 4 is by all accounts having some stability issues, so I have left that update alone for now. WinPatrol Plus (paid version) is quite good and you could add MBAM Pro (who have recently acquired that Anti-Exploit application, I believe it still has some maturing to do).
Just want to stress that Malwarebyte’s Anti-Exploit is a BETA product… meaning it’s a non-final, “unpolished” product, that should be considered for testing purposes only. (For example, the previous build of MBAE blocked IE10 on Win7x64 systems… which was an obvious F/P. That’s been fixed in the current build 0.9.2.1200.)
There’s a lot of debate about it… I’m testing it… and I believe it has potential… but would suggest “routine” users wait until a final, non-Beta build is released (probably later this year).
Thanks for the replies, I guess I just can not stand to leave things alone and just like to try stuff. Yes I know Anti-Exploit is beta. I removed EMET, seems to slow computer. I will try to be careful. Thanks
You’re welcome.
