Does Silent/Gaming Mode block virus alerts too?

I’ve searched the forum for an answer for this pretty basic question, but had no luck.

In Avast’s Settings, I know you can turn on Silent/Gaming Mode to prevent the pop-up ads that appear from time to time in the lower right corner of the screen.

However, the setting’s description says that no messages will be displayed. Does this mean that urgent messages won’t appear either—for example, if Avast detects a virus or trojan?

Thanks, Ander

You can test and find out  then tell us…

I was wondering about the same thing. Does anyone know the actual answer so we don’t have to download a virus just to test this?

It is not a virus…it is a test file that all AV vendors have added signature for to function test AV programs

The answer is YES, Silent Gaming mode stops ALL pop-ups / alerts.

Thanks

I like silent mode, it doesn’t bother me about anything.

Thanks, AdrianH. I was curious myself.

Unless something has recently changed, it also stops VPS updates.
You also will not be informed if there is a program update.
