Does the online scanner also work as a submission process?

I mean, do the files sent to http://onlinescan.avast.com/ are also being submitted (collected) to avast! virus analysts?
Does this process have anything different from submitting from Chest?
Does it work for both malware and false positives suspicion?

Thanks.

I would like to know this as well. I’m working on an article in which I am showing users where they can submit malware and false positives.

Also, is there anywhere else to submit false positives (except through email or through the program itself)?

Welcome aboard Chiron!

Thank you. I just figured I’d join the party as well.

Chiron welcome to Avast! forum.

I am glad you want to joint the party here. I have used your articles to help others. Well written BTW.

Thanks.

So does anyone know all the different submission options for malware and false positives, excluding those from within the program itself, and whether:
http://onlinescan.avast.com/
will get files to the labs to be added to the database (or false positives removed) as quickly as sending an email to:
virus@avast.com

Also this one:
http://www.avast.com/contacts (button “General contact”)

Milos

Thanks, but general contact links to a page that doesn’t allow you to attach any files. Thus I’m not sure how this is useful as a method for submitting samples.

Can you please explain some more?

click general contact…then change the subject to …Report false virus alert in file or Report of undetected malware… and voila

Brilliant. Well, I think I found what I’ve been looking for.

Thank you very much.
