Operational System. You already answered (windows xp) 8)
You’re not suppose to copy & paste.
Probably you can send the last file there attached in an email.
If it’s too big, you can use 7zip (freeware) to pack it (www.7-zip.org)
Send it to Vlk, that is who asked for it. Have a look at the icons below his picture and click the one that looks like a printer with paper coming out.
Tanya, it could also be a ram issue, my computer has a bad RAM stick - that means that some parts of the ram can be ‘written’ to. But once the computer tries to ‘read’ again what it just ‘wrote’, it is gone. This can cause the computer to shut down any program that used a bad part of your memory. This means that if your computer has a heavy task ( like avast ) and you never use other heavy tasks, like games or video compressing, it will seem like avast is the problem, what probably is happening is that windows writes a file to the RAM, wants it back, reads its missing (reads nothing at all) and shuts down as a safety issue. It got me that far that im going to buy new ram one of these days.
Other ‘strange’ things that may occur are:
Randomly closing programs (most of the time the ‘heavy’ stuff)
strange messages when your laptop is shutting down (most of the time when you used your laptop for a longer period of time.)
To avaid this you could try to run avast right after you booted the laptop, there is a minor possibility this works.
Also if you have an older laptop it could be your ram going bad, with a newer one (like my computer) you want to (ab)use your warranty and study on this, explain it to the salesman, who doesnt know anything, and then tell him it must be your RAM.
Prepare… RAM for laptops is quite expensive if you fail to fool him and (almost) EVERYTHING mentioned above occurs. You could also buy more RAM for fun if money is not a problem of course, but i dont want you spending money unnecessarily.
i also was surfin and something called “errorguard” wanted so scan my pc, i installed the system it found errors but the pc shutdown durin the scan as always
I uinstalled it and thinkin about uinstalling avast
i had viruses on spyware on my pc for a long time before i got avast and maybe the whole system needs to be renewed.
It’s not an old pc, but i can¨t even make too many copies of my files because of this shutdown all the time.
I’m hoping it’s something virus releated so i can repair it
If it is possible to ensure that your system is clean, then you can hopefully resolve any hardware or software issues. To ensure that you are totally in the clear, visit the following links, Eddy’s Website and click the “HijackThis Section”, Advice & Tools for virus/trojan/malware Removal & Prevention
If you haven’t already got these programs (all freeware), get them.
I have been reading alot of the posts in this forum for months but now I have decided to write something.
Tanya, because you have a Toshiba Satelite laptop, I read something about Toshiba laptops being sold with faulty RAM. This could explain why your laptop is behaving strangely. You might want to look at this website and see if your laptop is listed:
