I am very happy with the basic protection Avast Free offers.
I wonder if upgrading to Pro disables all reminders and offers to upgrade or increase protection?
I mean I do not wish to see any more offers for paid, trial or free upgrades or additions.
I also wish updating the program will not try to install additional features or software.
Can anyone with Pro tell me from experience how Avast behaves?
Are you still offered to upgrade to Premium or “Internet Security” and if so how many times a year?
Does updating the program still try to install Chrome?
Does a new feature like GrimeFighter still get silently activated?
I do appreciate notifications of updated virus database. Those I can quiet down using the settings page. I do not wish to resort to running in silent-mode.
btw. Perhaps I need to address this question to support and not via this forum. I’ll try here first. For any who wonders. The reason of my question is I advice friends to use Avast but I want to keep questions to a minimum. Some of them are not computer savvy and call me for each popup, notification, offer and everything that is or seems different.
I had the pro version at one time.
The mail scanner didn’t work with Outlook 2010 and had to be disabled.
There was no fix.
I had to downgrade to the free version and then it worked fine.
Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.
Check : Once uninstalled check in device manager>view>show hidden devices if there is anything related to avast with a yellow triangle… if so, uninstall it and reboot.
