Doesnt recognize third-party VPN

Before I installed Avast I already had a third-party VPN, after trying a few, and I’m quite happy with it and it does not interfere with my internet use.

That said, Avast seems unaware that it exists. I get it that Avast wants to upsell me to use its own VPN. But that upsell should be based on the relative merits of each VPN solution, NOT on the faulty belief that I don’t already have one.

It feels a lot like a false negative, actually lying to me, declaring problems that I actually do NOT have because my VPN blocks them. It makes one wonder what else Avast is NOT getting right?

Look, all I wanted from Avast is excellent Anti-Virus. It does that, but the attempts to be more than that are counter-productive. I dropped AVG because they also were such a pain-in-the-^%^% about not recognizing my existing VPN.

It is exactly that: a dumb attempt at upsell.

Set Avast to Limited Mode and at least the popups should go away. It’ll still tell you things are wrong in the main GUI but just ignore that.
