Turning my computer back on after the last mandatory update, I was surprised to see ASB having been not only installed on it, but also pinned itself to my start menu, taskbar, and setting itself as my default browser. It took multiple attempts to remove it from each one.
I’ve been using Avast for the better part of a decade. Don’t do this again or I’ll find some other anti-virus protection.
I agree. It’s completely inappropriate to have something installed without specific permission. I just happened to notice it today. It was installed without my permission. Not sure when, but I promptly uninstalled it. I will rethink my decision to use Avast if they keep doing things like this. There are plenty of browsers out there to choose from without one being forced on you.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused! You would have received the update because you had an older version of the browser (SafeZone) installed.
You can uninstall Secure Browser if you aren’t interested in using it any longer and you don’t have to remove Avast entirely to do so, as such it’s very simple to remove. If you’re curious about Secure Browser you can learn more here: https://goo.gl/5oEnWW
