dont recall thread, so here is new one sorry

I have avast 5 free , and its not showing results, but clearly its scanning , by seeing visible HD spinning during process.
I need it to show results, so I know for sure its doing it properly, so how do I reenable this in 5 please ?

thx
leeboj.

Hi leeboj and welcome to the forum.

First I need to ask you a few questions. Did you do an upgrade or clean install of Avast Free? What version do you now have…5.0.594 is the latest version. If you did an upgrade, what version did you have previously?

When you say you are looking for “results,” what exactly are you looking for? Do you want to scan, see that your shields are up and running, can you get updates? Please be more specific so that I can better answer your question.

Have you opened the GUI to explore? Please do NOT change any default settings until you are well accustomed to the program and GUI. Thank you.

Clean install of 5.0.594

Sorry I wasn’t more clear <bafoon :)>, and indeed I want results < as it does detect and warn about test virus cases as per this forums link> for ‘right click scanning’ in WindowsExplorer.

Thanks
Leeboj.

I don’t see the link you refer to. May I ask, are you able to do scans?

What is your OS, (32 or 64-bit), RAM, what other security software do you have on your machine (currently and previously) including firewall?

LInk is irrelevant, I was just verifying that avast IS working to detect viruses, it just does NOT have a windows explorer > right click scanner that shows you ‘results’ , regardless that the scan
detects anything.

TO be perfectly clear to you, I want the integrated right click scan of fans, in windows explorer, to SHOW ME results everytime, regardless that there was no virus found.

I hope that is more clear to you now.

Open the interface, go to settings, and check that the boxes shown in the red rectangle on the screenshot are ticked.

HI and thx for reply.

I already had those ticked and It’s still not working.

Is this a issue with avast and win7 64bit ?

thx
leebo

No problem on my Windows 7 system.

YoKenny, any chance you could run a troubleshoot-type exercise?

Change your settings so as to not receive that context scan indication, and then reverse the changes to bring it back, and post the changes made?

I wonder if toggling the options on the OP’s computer, perhaps with a reboot in between, might help make the change “stick”. worth a crack, if nobody has a better idea.

This is a VERY necessary feature, and if it isn’t going to work reliably, Ill revert to AVG free.

No offense, but im not waiting any longer, though I will revisit this thread to view updates.

cheers
