My friend has avast home on her laptop, windows says there are two 2 anti virus systems on her laptop and I can only find avast, but when it updates it does it twice. when using revo to find what programs there are Avast only shows up once. any thoughts please.
Does windows say two antiviruses or two spyware applications ? if the latter windows defender might still be active which can be disabled as it’s not needed.
The double update is a known problem if you search the forum and will be fixed in the next program update.
we can find out what is installed if you attach a OTL log…

I think that (running an OTL scan) would be a sledgehammer to crack a nut, just to find out what AVs are installed, the Windows Security Center (or Action Center) should indicate what they are. Then it is a case of uninstalling one of them.
I suspect that “but when it updates it does it twice” is our old friend the double update notification, it isn’t actually doing two updates.
Hi, Yes two anti virus progs. And looking in the program folder, there is only one.
I have just uninstalled using the avast tool and it did uninstall two versions, I then installed a new one did a restart after all tasks completed it then did an update…twice…! The avast I have on my system is OK
I gather that means it’s all fixed then, Great 
The laptop still updates twice and that is with a new installation
It only update’s once but will sound twice with the popup on the second sound, it’s a known bug and should be fixed with the next program update, nothing to worry about
