There is no duplication other that they are likely to be different versions of the same file
This is also unrelated to the VRDB scan, but the main avast program when the file is updated (probably windows update) then it will save a copy of the new version.
I see the transfer dates are different, you can right click on the files and check if the file properties are different. I have duplication in my System Files section, it is normal.
I have been looking forward to SP3 like looking forward to root canal dentistry ;D and will have to phone a friend with broadband to download the 300+ MB download, no way I will try that on dial-up. Even a visit to WU where the download/update is likely to be smaller I would still be on-line linger than the two hour disconnect of my package.
Yes I could reconnect directly but the update would have failed, these large updates are a pain in the rear on dial-up. But I want the full SP3 so I have a copy if I ever consider a complete reinstall from scratch.
one of my folks in the California backwoods is on dial up and reported that the SP3 update took 5 hours on his connection. I believe the download from WU is somewhere around the 66Mb mark.
Yes it is a much reduced download as it isn’t downloading the ‘full’ SP3 update and once installed you don’t have a copy so should you ever decide/need to start from scratch you would have to do it all over again. That is why I want to get the full SP3 so I can retain a copy.
Even 5 hours is a no no on my package although I have almost unlimited connection about 8 hours a day and I’m not on line close to that, but I get bumped off after two hours so that screws up any WU update taking longer than two hours.
That is why I have to plan my updates and I usually download them manually and install off-line, which gives me a copy which I retain.
