Downgrading from AIS to Pro Version

Is there a way to change Avast so I can use avast as the pro version not the Avast Internet Security. I want to permanetly get rid of the firewall since I have had more problems with it than it is worth.

Sales wants me to refund my AIS Version and allow me to purchase the Pro version but I lose the ability to install avast on the 3 pcs I legally running it on.

I have tried to disable the firewall but there is still an annoying icon and there is some “hooks” left behind that blocks file and print services

You can uninstall the firewall component through add/remove programs.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I went into windows add/remove program and chose to change the installation (Uninstall/Change) Option.

Unchecked the Firewall piece and rebooted.

Hopefully this removes all firewall “hooks”.

Why didn’t the sales/support group tell me this. It would have made my life so much easier and I would not have spent time trying to fix this.

I did that the other day and all is well, I installed another firewall with no problem

I think it is confusion more than anything else, the word downgrading could mean just that you don’t want AIS or the other features (anti-spam). So they probably thing you bought the wrong product and just wanted the Pro version.

Had you asked if there was a way to disable/remove the firewall component, you might have had the same response as here.
