Use this link http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe 6.0.1125 latest version

That page when you click on the Free download button, a) it pops-up an offer for the Pro version or b) continue with the free version. If you select the free version it should redirect to the cnet Download.com site to download, it did for me.

Both links work, but the one posted by craigb is a shorter way to do it.
