download manager

how can i configure Avast!4 to scan a file after download manager program finished a download. what .exe file should i use to enter on the d/l manager?

Currently, the most suitable EXE is ashQuick. Plain

ashQuick.exe

should do the trick.

It works perfectly in FlashGet 1.4 (www.amazesoft.com)

ashQuick.exe woks fine with FreshDownload too !!! ;D

It does not work with WinZip 9.0 Beta (optional scanning in Configuration Settings) :‘(
I tryed \Ashquick.exe (without parameters) and WinZip give me the following error:
“Scan was completed with error. Error: The system could not found the specified path”.
I tryed with lots of zip files. The scanning with avast works (and the files are clean), but not with ashquick.exe :’(

Maybe winzip needs short pathname or pathname enclosed in parentheses.

Sorry Kubecj, I tried both… I got the same error.
Maybe it´s a WinZip 9.0 Beta bug. After you write the short path and click OK, the application automatically change it to the long path…
Quotation marks is not allowed…

Parenthesis? What are you talking about?
I believe kubecj actually meant quotation marks. As the ashQuick pathname contains blanks by default (since it resides in ‘Program Files’), there is a fair chance it could help

Sorry, I think one thing and write another.
Forget parentesis, I tried and did not work with “quotation marks”…

doesn’t work with WINZIP 8.1, either

Guys, do you ever read the docs?

I installed WinZip, and got ashQuick running in a couple a minutes - no problem.

The key is to look in the WinZIP help. There, you will find the format used to specify the names of the files to be scanned. I found out that it is sufficient to insert

%d

to the Paramaters box in the WinZIP configuration. This way, it seems to be working OK…

Hope this helps,
Vlk

Sorry, you´re right. With “%d” parameter, everything works fine. Sorry for waste your time… 8)

ashquick.exe works fine with download express too.

Please can you tell me what you put in the boxes for command and for parameters? I allways get the file not found error.

Peter

Thanks guys! It works great! By the way, I use Download Accelerator.

In order to check my configuration i downloaded eicar.zip.
Avast responded ok. but i was not ableto delate or move the file untill the file was extracted.
Is this the normal way to treat a zip-file ???
Can´t the extraktionprocess ever trigger any virus ???

As you se I am a beginner (and I love my avast)

/que

All files from the archives must be extracted (to the our temp folder) before their scanning. When we process whole archive, we delete all extracted files. If you terminate scanning and some infected files were extracted to the temp folder, all files should be removed before next avast! running (can someone confirm it? ??? - i’m not really sure). If you run the extracted-infected file which is localized in so hardly accessible temp folder, yes - you can infect your computer; but I don’t believe it would happend to you.

NO! Read this topic from the beginning…Avast 4 can scan zipped files too!

It works fine with Getright!..

C:<avast directory>\Ashquick.exe
Without any parameters.
Good luck.
