I downloaded Avast on my old laptop but I have since purchased a new laptop and want to put it on my new one. How do I do that?
Uninstall avast in your old computer.
Install in the new and apply the license file.
Many new laptops come with some type of AV pre-installed. Which ever one it happens to be must first be removed with Add/remove Programs and then use the cleaning tool of that pre-installed AV before installing Avast or any other AV.
Download the avast version you wish to use and save, then the neccessary removal tool for the pre-installed AV from here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ and save.
Then remove the pre-installed AV via programs and features and reboot, then run the removal tool to eliminate remnants and reboot again, now install your saved copy of avast and apply your license file.
i uninstalled norton (free trial that came on my laptop) and then clicked this:
Program Installation file back-up
There is no need to download and reinstall your avast! product, unless you have uninstalled it. In this case you can download the installation file by clicking here:
Back-up installation file download
it is prompting me to: “Supply a Llicense File”.
I have my order email from avast and none of the information in that for License File works.
What am I doing wrong?

Did you uninstall Norton using its removal tool found here: http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ ?
Did you already install Avast! ? Which Avast! Pro or IS ?
Did you have your Avastlic file in the mail ?
How to insert your lincense in Avast IS:
i uninstalle norton by going to control panel and uninstalling…not by a website
and i am not certain which version but this is the order detail and code
300432121
avast! Internet Security 1PC, 1 year 1 $19.99
i cannot finish the download without the license file number
and in the email i received there is a box to click
“download license file”
and when i click it it is like a document on a webpage…if i am saying that correctly
webpage nexway.com
For those who need to know, you can find Nexway here : http://corporate.nexway.com/
@getsmother - you have not completely uninstaller Norton. Using the Control panel is not enough as that just cripples Norton (or any other program type) where it will not work correctly.
You also have to use the correct tool found at http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ as iroc9555 mentioned above.
