Is it possible to download and save a second copy of avast to disk ?
Why would I want to do this ? well if I wanted to do a fresh install of windows following a problem with my computer I would need a anti-virus program up and running before I accessed the web.
Equally it would be useful to have a back up copy in case of an emergency but would it still work after 60 days (it would not be installed)
E-mail address remain the same… could this cause a problem as one copy would already be recorded in use at this e-mail address.
Thanks for your help
You can download as many copies of avast as you like the download doesn’t install avast if you select save as or save file as so the file is saved to your hard disk (at your chosen location).
You don’t have to give your email to download avast only when you register it (Home version) or if you buy the pro version. You don’t say what version this relates to ?
I never delete my avast installation file but save it to my downloads, security-apps folder available to use if necessary.
You can use the same registration key for multiple copies of the Home version, provided that their use is for home, non-commercial use (both must apply) and obviously be in the same home.
I’ve saved all my security-must- have programs and their respective registration information on a usb drive.
That way, even if my hard drive is damaged, the information is available to me when it’s needed.
(Saving the info to a CD would work just as well)

I do the same thing, only I save it to my home server.
Actually, I do this with MANY things that I download and use often. Why not? If your internet connection gets killed one day for some reason, wouldn’t it be nice to at least have an old version of an important program rather than nothing at all?
Go 'fer it.
You can download the setup at any time from website.
You can store your personal info in an USB drive or using Mozy to get 2,200 Mb for free remote backup system.
