I Went to the site, Upgraded to 20MB (I have Bigpond, Which I now hate). Site said my router was “compatible” for ADSL2. They rang up 3 days later saying that the router does not support ADSL2 (which annoyed me) so they put me on an 8MB plan. Now My download speed has gone from 150-160KBs to 80KBs.
Speedtest Still gives same results but ping went from 50 - 80
Hehe, I couldn’t live with it. But when I get slowed, I go to 6KBs which is now 3 ???. Makes it impossible to watch those cartoons (Naruto ;D) and videos.
Husk, you need to complain to your ISP. If you have a record of previous speedtests, it will be better. Keep on at them; don’t put up with it. Make several speed tests at different times of the day, because, if they are anything like mine has been at times, they will say it’s just due to demand. Prove to them that it’s a poor speed even at “low-demand” times.
You will probably find that they are not breaking the terms of their contract (have a read) but if you keep cool but insistent about the issue they might come to the party and do the decent thing.
Took me a hell of a long time and a few letters/phone calls to get Telstra trained, but they’re actually pretty good, now.
Just as well. Who wants to be in a phone queue for 20 min at a time?
Just make sure your info is accurate, and you have the records to back it up. Be cool, calm and collected. Without wanting to be ageist, it may be better to get a parent to do it. Sometimes business reps don’t take kids so seriously.
I don’t doubt that the info was right. But without some kind of record, they won’t be likely to respond in the way you want. And sure, they might not anyway.
Records could be a printout of several speedtests over a time period, both before and after the “upgrade”.
Hope the weather is better for your holiday in the West Island than it is here. Freezing. Windy. Wet.
But it could of just been down a bit, It’s back to it’s original DL and UL speed. I don’t have any results from a few days ago though.
It’s winter here for us. It can get Really cold or warm. But NZ is really cold there isn’t it? My sister went there for a Acrobatics Competition ( I really hate Acrobatics =P)
The info that I meant was the info you had posted. I thought that was what you meant.
The info the ISP will be interested in is the speedtest results, in order to have some “hard copy” to back up your statement.
