Hi,
I have a standalone computer and wanted to know how I could get Avast updates on that computer without connecting that to the internet. Can I somehow copy the virus definitions from my computer which is connected to the internet to the one that is not connected to the internet? Please help.
You can download the VpsUpd executable and start it on your computer (after you transfer it there somehow) - it will update the virus database.
Hello igor,
You are right but that was the way before updating to 4.1.501
Now the newest VpsUpd.exe (like of 445-1) says that it needs an older version of avast! 4 (418 or older)!
Me too as Kabirdutt, I used sometimes to update my other 2 PCs using VpsUpd.exe without the need to connect them to Internet (By the way, I purchased a key for 3 PCs).
I think it is a temporary problem… I hope so ![]()
Oh… I’ll check that.
Hi igor,
I am waiting… ;D
(Just kidding, since this is not an urgent one)
Ah, sorry, I forgot to answer :-[
I was told that new versions of VpsUpd shouldn’t have this problem… did you try to download the file again? (I mean, is it possible that your version of the VpsUpd.exe file is slighly older?)
Hi igor,
I know you are a bit busy these days ![]()
Thank you, and as you said, with ‘VpsUpd’ version 0445-2 the problem is solved. It was done very fast indeed
Best wishes to you and Alwil team.
