I am working with somebody who wants Avast on their PCs and Servers on a closed network. They have no internet access. But, sometimes people bring USB drives or CDs and thus the network needs to have AV.
How do they keep Avast up to date?
Where can they download the latest updates?
How do they install these updates?
For updating an off-line systems, download using a system with internet connection, save the file to a CD or USB drive and transfer it to the off-line system and run it to update the VPS signatures file.
Save the downloaded file to somewhere you can find it again, it is an executable, just run it and it will update the signatures.
I believe it is for the Home/Pro version, there is a different one oft the Linux/Unix version of avast so I’m assuming that there would be a different one for the server version.
Since dancerdog asked about the exe to download, I assume we are talking about Windows-based server here, not Unix.
I’m not 100% sure, but I’d say it should work the same way as avast! Home/Pro (i.e. the same vpsupd.exe to update the virus database, and the corresponding full installer to update the program itself).
