downloaded avast - go to yahoomail - computer crashes

Hi Again

I wrote a few days back with the same problem but figured a fresh post might result in some new ideas. Never had issues prior to downloading avast but now I get the blue screen almost everytime i go to my email. It is very frustrating. I did remove norton using the tools that were recommended and nothing has changed. When I did a search on my computer it appears that all norton/symantec is gone. Does anyone know a way to fix this or if there is a number to contact avast in hopes of getting a refund?

Thanks

@ surfin,

This was your original thread: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=66590.0 that we suggested the Symantec/Norton uninstall, which obviously did not work for you.

Did you have another antivirus (AV), firewall, other security software, or trial security software on this machine currently or in the past? Sometimes they can conflict or remnants left behind can cause problems.

The problem only happens when you check your email? What is your email provider? What browser do you use? How do you connect to the Internet?

Is Avast working fine otherwise? Have you scanned your system with Avast? If so, what type of scan and was anything found (anything in the Virus Chest)? Thank you.

Thanks for the replies. It is Yahoomail that crashes the system. We use internet explorer and connect using Roger’s wireless. Avast seems to be working fine otherwise and the scans have come up clean. Any other ideas??? Thanks again.

Unfortunately it only adds to confusion and usually causes duplication in an attempt to analyze the problem. Simply revitalize the original post with a new entry. Thanks :)
