I have version 3.0 and I would like to get the new version. Do I have to uninstall the one I have and then download the new one? Or will it take less time to download because I already have 3.0?
Thanks!

Hi Linnie,
I would think that you could just update version 3 to 4 using the update function of the Avast Program. Right click the Avast Icon on the taskbar and then left click the updating/Program Update button. The program should do the rest.
If that doesn’t work then you would probably have to reinstall the program.

Hi RoRo, Thanks for replying.
I did try looking for program update from the icon, and from Help but couldn’t seem to find it. It does have AVS update which I tried but of course there are no more updates for 3.0. I’m currently downloading the full version since no one else has had any bright ideas I couldn’t find a link on the website to update the program either, only the full download. Thanks anyways
Hi Linnie!
If it’s so, than, I think you better just download & register a new version (it will be faster, than update it.
What version of windows do you have ?
Version 3 is so out of date and unsupported, I doubt you have been able to get VPS updates for some considerable time. It would be better all round not to try a program update.
Download the latest version and save it to your hard disk so you can find it later. Complete the avast! 4 Home Registration form and you will receive an email from register @ avast.com (without the spaces) with your registration key.
Disconnect from the internet, uninstall the old version of avast, using the add remove function in windows and reboot. Install the latest version of avast 4.7.892 and reboot when asked.
