Downloading

I was searching for an answer already given, didn’t find one. Forgive me if this is a repost. It’s probably an odd request, so I doubt it.

I have need to install virus protection on a computer not connected to the internet. I have been using avast for a few months now and I like it. I would like to install avast on the computer in question. I would ask of you:

If I download the most current installer (7.0.1466), would an internet connection be required to install avast? (Is the installer fully capable or is it a web installer?)

I do understand that the program would not be able to update itself automatically, yes. That brings me to my next question:

Is there a way to download and install program updates and definitions manually with avast?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

  1. No.
  2. Yes. → http://www.avast.com/download-update

Thanks, Asyn.

Quick question. I do see that this page says that updates are usually released on a daily basis. I do see that the page discusses their virus database (definitions, is what I’ve known them as). I do not see a version number or a date of release.

Does this include the virus definitions or just program updates?

I can not imagine why the program would need updates daily, other than for the definitions…but you never know why people do what they do.

  1. You’re welcome.
  2. Yes. In fact that is the download for the definitons.
