hi, sorry to be such a clumsy newbie, particularly in a (to me) foreign language
What I ordered from avast! was:
- internet security 3 PC
- backup 25GB
this happened on April 12, I then followed instructions, and stood by for download
but download never ended
eventually, many hours later either power or internet connection lapsed, and I was left with nothing
apparently, I have now lost the virus protection I had, but both products ordered were acknowledged and duly charged
both spherical red icons appear constantly on lower right corner, both with a superimposed white “X” signaling inactivity
and if I open the avast icon from desk, it directs me to re-start
my reference number copied from April 12 order is 22188882924
the total fee of $120 was paid through my Visa credit card
I also copied my licence number from the screen: ZX2V6Q6GST4WZV6Z6GCW
hopefully, someone there may be able to understand that, I certainly cannot!
There are a number of things that I could try, but I don’t dare to keep experimenting, since the procedure sequence is not straightforward, and it always opens up too many alternatives. So I refrain from trying out ideas.
Inaction may be preferable to mistakes, but it still solves nothing
Help! Can you provide some hints? Or better, some suggestions?
Or best, straight directions to be obeyed?

Hi there, there may have been a corruption in the download… So do the following.
First from the confirmation e-mail from avast save the licence file to the desktop
Then :
Lets reinstall Avast
Download Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel
[]Run aswClear
[]It will offer to reboot to safe mode … Accept that

[*]Once it has rebooted to safe mode
[*]In the Select Product to Uninstall dropdown choose the version of Avast that is on your system.
[*]Press Uninstall
[*]Once complete reboot your system to Normal Mode
[]Reinstall Avast
[]Double click the licence file on the desktop
Don’t post your license number as it compromises it and others could use it and the number could be blocked as it would be exceeding the license volume, use the modify button in your post and Remove it.
Once avast IS installed double click the license.avastlic file that you should have received that should insert it for you.
If you haven’t a copy of the license file - use the Resend avast License http://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php function, you will need to enter the email that you used when purchasing the license, e.g. the one that the original email with the link was sent.
