hi team. first post here (was hoping never to post sort of thing, but anyway)
well i got myself a trojan and i cabn’t remember the other thing. most of the data i collected was lost because i lost internet explorer and thought might just be easier to do a clean install of windows vista.
it might indeed be possible to track down where i got these things from, but i guess that is not your style. just thought i’d mention that.
this is all i have to offer now … MBR0 … and … BOOTC . I had avast5 running in the background while i was opening up some software i had found, and (without the sound) avast pop ups (2 of ) warned me of a trojan etcetra, and was told not to worry as they were sent to chest. java instantly played up; then i noticed some strange icons on desktop; then i started to lose I E. i did take some screenshots but was unable to complete the operations. after a clean install i checked program files and found a strange title which i deleted for fear of being infected again. so all i have is the above. not sure if avast 5 was up to date. can i have a good explanation of what happebed please. thank you. i have no other protection other than avast 5 beta. thanks,gordon
PS a system scan said these two items cannot be scanned (that’s the above) i tried sending to the chest etcetra but i got error warnings.
Avast 5 is still a beta and doesn’t have as good as a database as 4.8 so you may have an undetected virus. You should not use the beta on a casual use computer.

Beta software is basically in late-prototype stage; you become a tester when you install it.
Download Avast4 from here, [edit]- download the full installer file, which is 36.99Mb, the second download below the words “Free Registration”.[complete edit]
Go offline, uninstall Avast 5, then install 4. Make sure the Windows firewall is turned on. Go back online, update Avast 4. Run a scan.
