Driver Updater crashing and false info

SO, it must SURELY be a glitch … … but the driver updater not only takes a very very long time to complete anything, (if it even can that is) but some of the drivers it is reporting as outdated…are in fact not and those that are on the list that are “outdated” and yet… not, just fail to download with an unknown error then crash the whole program… ok its official I wants the money back. no joke this program was supposed to save me time as going through manually is just annoying but nope no go.

I installed Avast Driver Update and I set it to update all my drivers that were out-dated. At sometime during the driver installations, my monitors went blank and that was the last I saw of my computer running. After leaving it for a few hours I realized that I had blown out my drivers so I restarted my computer.

After restarting my computer (win 7) the computer advised that it needed to repair the damage. I watched as a blue blip went from left to right. That blip continued for about 12 hours. After realizing that this is not working, I restarted the computer again. Again, it advised me that I needed to repair the damaged files. Again, I left it run. And the next day, nothing.

During the BIOS phase of start up the computer asked me if I wanted to run the repair program or start windows normally. Surely after a day of running repairs, something would have been done. Alas, the windows icon would come on my screen and then the monitors would indicate no signal and then turn off.

The only way to fix this (IMHO) is to boot the computer into safe mode (F8 during bios) and then choose to restore an earlier version of Windows. Unfortunately, the ones that Avast did before screwing up my system did not work. Both failed to load. I decided to choose a restore point from a week ago and try that. Windows rebooted and reinstalled my windows drivers to what they were a week ago and then I was able to log in and use windows normally. When re-starting your computer make sure that you are using a wired keyboard or it will go through the entire bios before your wireless keyboard and mouse are useable. The wired keyboard will allow you to get to the Safe Mode start up.

I immediately sent a ticket to Avast asking for my money back. I wish I could recover the two days that it took for me to get my computer working again. I had great hopes for this program but alas, it just caused me too much drama.

This is why you shouldn’t be updating your drivers unless something is broken . I never update my drivers.

My very recently updated Dell Sonicwall is flagging the avastdriverupdater.exe file as: Name: MalAgent.J_25558 (Trojan)

Agreed this is a bad piece of software and a bad business practice. When I ran it on my computer they found a bunch of board drivers out of date. I ran my Dell updater and they found none out of date. So WTF.

I also have problems with Driver Updater and want a refund for it. My ticket #979006 has still not been responded for 8 days now… What do I do?

Have patience, only avast can handle tickets.
Current response time is +/- 5 business days.
