drvlangchg.exe false positive

Suddenly Avast! is flagging this Brother printer file, drvlangchg.exe, as Win32:Malware-gen.

Somebody has reported this to Avast before. I did a search on “avast drvlangchg” on Google and Google gave me a result under Avast “Recent Posts” but the link took me to a bunch of posts that had nothing to do with this issue.

I did a search within the Avast forums using the internal Search feature. It produced a “1”, as though there should have been a result there, but there was no result.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi KDibble,

If you suspect this to be a false positive please report is here https://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?subject=VIRUS-FILE
Usually reported false positives will be fixed in the next 24 hours.

Greetz, Red.

Well, okay. But the last time I made such a report the problem was not fixed, and I received no reply from avast! about it.

Thanks.

I am getting the same bogus results on the legitimate WinZip file WZQKPICK.EXE.

I have reported both of these issues to avast as suggested.

Perhaps one of the avast staffers on this forum would follow up with the company on these reports to ensure that I get a response?

Thank you.

An attempt to modify my last post failed.

I should add that I am getting continuous reports from multiple workstations on both drvlangchg.exe and WZQKPICK.EXE in the SOA scan logs. However, I can execute a file-specific avast scan on both of these files and get “no threat detected”.

I received satisfactory responses from avast on both of these.

Thank you!
