This is a realy dumb question, but does Avast announce it has been updated with a man’s voice when you first start your computer? (Have Comcast, so I am always on)
I have heard it 3 or 4 times, but it never does it when I am in the computer room! It says something like _________ has been updated. I think it says Avast, but not sure. I hve only had Avast a coiuple weeks.I was beginning to think I was hearing things! If it isn’t Avast, I will have to try to figure out what/who it is!!! :-[
Welcome bikerbabe to the forums. Yes that is avast telling you that the virus database has been updated. If you leave your computer on for long periods you could get several updates in a day depending on outbreaks of new viruses.
By default, avast! will scan for updates every four hours. The voice that you keep hearing when avast! is updated saids," Virus database has been updated."
BTW if you want you can disable the sounds from: program settings->sound
or in case you don’t like them you can even change these sounds with others that you prefer
For example: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=4064
??? Downloaded the sounds, now how do I get them in the program? Menu/Settings/Sounds? If I change the avast sound will it change my “desktop theme” sounds, too?
Thanks all and Hapy New Year!!!
As far I know, not. avast sounds could be changed right clicking the ‘a’ blue icon > Program settings > Sounds
Welcome to the best av program and to the forums, bikerbabe!
Be sure to come back often … learn more about avast … and maybe someday help someone else.
