??????????????e in registry: neutral for Hijackthis

I’ve got an ACER AST690 on VISTA HOME PREMIUM, now I downloaded HijackThis and the log shows everything fine except this strange registry entry which is classified as “NEUTRAL” on http://www.hijackthis.de/#anl:

Do you have an HP printer

Online analysis is fine for a quick look but you must remember, the human mind is better

No, I have a Canon bjc250 printer, a win95 printer (I managed to download a XP compatible driver and it works on Vista Home premium!). A few days ago I remeber have read 04 is safe in CastleCops but I’m not sure as I was a little drunk (sorry!..). I’m puzzled as who who’d name a file like that…!!! :o

See if this thread sheds any light

Are you sure? Isn’t in the devices manager window being shown a non-compatible driver for the printer? Isn’t there any Vista driver for downloading in Canon site?

Doesn’t seem to be a language problem. May be it’s Acer erecovery but I’m not sure… 8)

Hi tech,
On Vista the Device Manager doesn’t have a printer entry and everything seems to be OK. I’m just lucky to keep my old computer printer working on Vista with XP drivers. It’s doing the job and it’s well enough for me. Strange enough though, I admit. Pretty lucky…!!!

Glad it’s working. Good luck to keep it always this way 8)

You can always use CODE tags… and then all your smiles are gone… something like this:

All Acers come with a lot of preinstalled crap, same thing was with my Laptop, but I uninstalled every single thing I am 110% sure I will never use. I remember I had exactly the same thing in my startup registry. Can’t recall what it was exactly, but I remember it was one of those things Acer always installs. Most important, nothing malicious, just annoying because of all those questionmarks inside the name…

Do not worry, leave it like it is. You won’t have any problems with that thing left inside.
