Using Avast Home 4.5, is e-mail in Windows ME automatically protected? I’m using Wallmart Connect. which I think is an early version of Compuserve.

As clearly stated in the help, no.
You have to set it up yourself.

  • setup the mail as ig Avast isn’t there
  • run the mail protection wizzard

That should do it.
You can test it with the eicar test file
