I have a new install on my Server 2008 R2 Virtual Machine and I am trying to detect workstations on my Novell network. I am trying to use a Discovery task using NT LAN Manager for the detection method. The task will only run for a few seconds and will only discover one of my Netware servers, but no workstation running XP Pro or Win 7 Pro. I have even tried to turn off the firewall on a few workstations to see if that would make any difference, but it did not. Any suggestions?
Was reading some of the past posts and mscoopes was having the exact same problem on Dec 5th. One person suggested making a new discovery task. Tried that and it still does not see any computers with discovery task even though I can see every computer when I search for them by right clicking on “My network places”
If discovery only works for Active Directory networks then why do they give the NT Lan Manager method as another option?
I am only seeing my first Novell server, and no other machines. The scan task status still says waiting after two hours. Anyone have a trick to get this to detect machines?
Without help from Avast!, my next step is to run WireShark to see what Avast! Enterprise Administration Console is “saying” on the network.

I am having this same problem. I have a windows XP SP3 PC running the EAS and console that seems to work fine. I can use it to scan the network, deploy clients, and manage clients. All is well with that machine. On the same subnet, I have a windows 2k8 box setup running only the EAS and the AEA Console. After turning off the firewall and making sure that file sharing is turned on, it will not discover any machines on the same subnet. It will discover the other server, but that is all. The two configurations are the same except one is running XP and the other is on Server 2k8.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the 2k8 server working?
