Early alarms over new Mac malware

Sunbelt Software chief executive Alex Eckelberry revealed that researchers at his company had uncovered a site advertising a product known as “MacGuard”. The product claims to offer both spyware and antivirus protections as well as the ability to remove adware and block phishing attacks on OS X systems.

Though no downloadable software has been found on the site, Eckelberry is urging users to remain vigilant.

As Stated, there’s nothing on this site YET. This is just a heads-up to Mac users that something may be coming.

Funny, the computer in the ad looks like a PC.

::slight_smile:

Not a very nice looking PC at that.

I suppose they were worried about getting sued by Apple for using a Mac image in an advert ;D ;D

Good one :wink:

I’ve seen some of these rouge programs on people’s machines before, just as with their windows counterparts they can be hard to remove. Luckily they are not nearly as widespread as their windows counterparts.

I’d have to say this looks like an rouge just look at the picture doesnt it seem a little bit too…simple and dull?
