I have another computer that is a 1998 IBM running on Windows XP. No SP1 or SP2. Computer not connected to the net. Intel Pentium 3.
I installed avast! 4.6 in the early 2007. I uninstalled avast! 4.6 at March using Control Panel. Then I noticed that the VRDB was still working ever since! So a couple of hours ago, i used the avast! uninstall utility and selected C:\Program Files\Awil Software.
It deleted the file, then asked me to restart my computer. So I Did.
It restarted, them went to the welcome screen. As soon as I typed the first letter, it restarted again! It wanted to do a disk check. I did and found no problems. Then it finally let me log in. After I logged in a window poped up saying “Windows has recovered from a serious error.” I had a look at the technical report but said nothing.
Why cant avast make it so we dont have to uninstall it ourself when they could delete thier own folder while uninstalling avast!?
Oh… An uninstallation trouble indeed.
Did you try the last 4.7.1001 version of avast? If you use the computer off-line, you can configure avast to a minimum…
You see, each time my computer is idle, my computer keeps on trying do to something cause i can see the light on my computer, when I move my mouse, it stops.
If you right click the ‘a’ blue icon (or the ‘i’ icon) and check VRDB menu, how is it set to be built? When computer is idle or when the screen saver is running?
