EDIT: Is this a hacker? Someone I don't know is connected to my network

1. So would disconnecting from the router/network that your currently on prevent you from getting malware? (Even if you can still connect to the network)
Yes as you would need to activate a programme on the other computer for any malware to work
2. I also can see other peoples' networks on my network list. Their people I don't know. Because I can connect to their networks, even if I don't connect to their network, can I get malware if they get malware even if it's not the same router? Or can malware only spread to networks on that router, and that router only? As long as I don't connect to another network?
If they are unsecured networks you can access their computer unless they have shares blocked. If their router is infected then yes you will be directed to malware sites - but only if you use their router

Oh that’s good. I always had felt safe by disconnecting my computer(s) from the network and now I know it actually works. ;D
I was always worried about it not really working because my computer could still recognize the other networks, even if I was disconnected from the networks.

Okay that’s good to know. So as long as my household tries their best to stay away from bad websites and as long as my computer is disconnected before we get malware, we’re okay. Especially because Avast! and MBAM has taken care of all the malware we get.

Thanks for all your help! I feel safe from malware now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks everyone for your help.

Our pleasure ;D

This isn’t really overly important, but you guys was right about the other person who was using my network.
After I removed the old unsecured network and got the new secure network, I seen a new network that just recently showed up with pretty much the same name as the PC that used my older network. They must have made their own because they couldn’t use my older one anymore.

So yeah, it was just a neighbor. That makes me feel good.

Thanks again for all your help guys.
