Can anyone tell me which line I need to alter in the Avast4.ini file to let the VRDB run everyday or to every other day. I opened the file, but not sure which line it is.

See Technical’s excellent explanation of the ini generally, including this question, here, the VRDB is covered in post # 4.
You’ll have to add the RunInterval as a new line in the VRDB section, it’s one or many settings for which avast uses its default value if there’s not a specific reference to it in the ini.
It’s your choice, of course – but every day or two is probably way too often to be doing fresh VRDB’s - ??

Use lowest value of 1 week and highest of 3 weeks. Its your choice 
yea one of the guys said more than that can cause problems in the database and so less likely to be able to repair infected files.
