I’m new to Avast and like it thus far. Does not seem to bog down the system as much as Norton, plus it integrates quite well into the system right away.
Anyhow, I’m using Home Edition 4.6 and I’d like to be able to edit the virus definition database. I saw a thread in the forum about it, but it did not end up giving the answer.
I know how to go into the Virus Database and view the supported files. In short, what I’d like to do is allow pdf attachments to be not deleted.
avast! does not delete anything by default. I mean, infected files by default.
avast! is not a firewall and it won’t block pdf attachments.
Maybe i’ll be better to be a little more precise about what you want. Do you want to exclude pdf attachments from scanning?
If so, there are actually two exclusion lists: one in program settings, affecting the on-demand scanners, and another one in Standard Shield settings, affecting Standard Shield (i.e. on-access protection) only.
