EDIT: After much messing around I have found a telephone number for Customer support: +44 808 281 9549
After speaking to them, after 5 mins I had the cancellation notification. In your Avast account page, drop down the location arrow in the top right and change it from worldwide to the UK version. It changes the telephone numbers.

I have tried to cancel a purchase on numerous occasions since auto-renewal took place in January. I have unsubscribed and then attempted via the order history method to cancel and ask for a refund.
All goes well until it asks to start a chat with a human. then choosing that option does nothing. It then directs you to fill out a form to which I instantly receive a “Sorry we couldn’t process our refund etc etc” with a list of numbers. The UK number when dialed just reports that this number doesn’t exist. Number quoted is +44 800 031 8398 (UK). There is a link to a form to fill out which in turn just starts the whole process again.
Its like a constant loop of excruciating failure of a company to allow either contact or to automate the refund. Anyone actually manage to contact customer support to get these issues sorted as I know there are a few posts similar to this one.
