Eek! win32:ramnit-e and vbs:exedropper-gen

My laptop has been running kinda slow for the last 2 weeks and I have been performing disk cleanups and a refrag thinking I was close to reaching my ram maximum. I ran a MBAM scan and it quarantined a few files and then I downloaded avast free anti-virus (thank god!!) and ran a full scan. It found 5800 infected files with win32: ramnit-e and vbs: exedropper-gen. I moved them all to the virus chest.

By moving the infected files now my Firefox doesn’t work (I get a report crash display now) and I’m using my sister’s comp to post to this forum. I looked into my MBAM and I had version 1.44 and I cannot connect to the server to update to 1.46 or even re-install it.

I need to know whether this can be fixed or whether I should chalk it up to too little too late and do a complete manufaturer’s restore?
