eicar does not detect it on online in xubuntu. xp is detected.

On xubuntu, I downloaded eicar to one’s PC and saved it. eicar was detected afterwards when I did a virus check in avast.

However, it is not detected when I download eicar from the site. xp is detected in a download from the site. In xp, I am using security software of @nifty.

By free software, I want to know the method how eicar is detected on online of xubuntu. When I get a file from the person whom I do not know with Skype or Yahoo messenger, I am slightly fierce.

avast! for Linux does not have on access scanning or web scanning. It will not detect viruses on web pages, viruses in downloads, and viruses in opened files. It will only detect viruses when you run a virus scan.
