Email Alerts Do Not Seem To Work

OK, I have been having a problem recently. When I try to set up an Email alert for avast! 5 Free the test message and the actual thing won’t work. I have no Idea what to do. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. My system specs are as follows:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Email Provider: Hotmail
Version of avast!: Free 5.0
Email Program: Microsoft Outlook 2007 With Business Contact Manager (Hotmail connector included)

PLEASE if anyone can, help me. I run my scans while I am gone and would like to see if it catches anything so I don’t get home and be surprised to find 75 Viruses on my system. Thank you in advance :slight_smile:

Hi DeathKnight206,

If my memory serves me right, avast mail shield can’t scan them as Hotmail uses Microsoft’s proprietary protocol called DeltaSync instead of POP3 or IMAP4.
