I cannot use my email, web scanner, or im protection because it says the files are missing. I have tried to redownload, with firewall off, that didnt work. I have tried to delete files like tsp and others, that didnt work. I spoke with an Adam Riley and he tried to go through a few things and nothing worked. So I am writing here to see if anyone has any ideas. I tried to remove the bat as I seen someone else did when he had this problem and that didnt work cuz there was no option to remove and all it did was update itself. I am beginning to feel the only thing for me to do is to get rid of avast completely and I have not even had it for long.
Are they still reported as missing ?
If so try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this. Although if an uninstall boot and reinstall didn’t work this is unlikely to.
Do you have any other AV installed (or did you), what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
What is your firewall ?
Does it allow access to the avast elements, ashMaiSv.exe, ashWebSv.exe ?
I have already tried the repair and that did not work and I have already tried to find any files that may be from previous one like avg free and I have searched for any of the files and it is showing nothing and I have already tried to download it while having the firewall off. The only thing I can think of is that damn norton is still on their somewhere but i have searched for it and havent found a thing.
Can you do a screenshot of the error message ?
I assume that ashWebSv.exe and ashMaiSv.exe aren’t running in task manager ?
Bah Norton, spit. Another link worth looking at which is a program removal tool, which can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT
After trying that, reboot and check again, but if this was a contributory factor then I would advise you uninstall avast, reboot, install, reboot.
ok I looked for any norton files didnt find any and tried to remove it anyway and it failed. So I followed all of their instructions and nothing. But in my yahoo mail it does state that it is being checked by norton so how is that possible? Also found something weird in msconfig Machine Debug Manager. What the hell is that? Also I did a HIjackLogfile
