Email attachments not found!

Hi:

I use Incredimail email and before installing Avast, I had no problems with attachments. Since installing Avast, I am having intermittent problems with receiving email attachments and fonts. I get a message behind attachment notice saying (not found). Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening or how I can fix it?

Thanks,
pansygirl

Do you use any spam killer?
Some emails blocked by the spam killer could have the attachments removed…
Which is your smtp server (e.g., @gmail.com)?
Do you use a firewall? Which one? Does it blocks the attachments?
Which is your Windows (98, XP…)?
Does this occur only with IncrediMail or with all others email clients either?

  1. Do you use any spam killer? I use Spyware Blaster, CCleaner, Ad-Aware SE Pro, CWShredder, WinDoctor and Spybot, as well as whatever Incredimail may use. This problem is new tho.

  2. Some emails blocked by the spam killer could have the attachments removed…
    Which is your smtp server (e.g., @gmail.com)?

smtp.comcast.net

  1. Do you use a firewall? Which one? Does it blocks the attachments? I use Sygate

  2. Which is your Windows (98, XP…)? I use WinXP, SP-2

  3. Does this occur only with IncrediMail or with all others email clients either? I have not noticed it happening in any other email client, however, I use YPOPS for my Yahoo email. The attachments come from Yahoo groups are already subscribed to my comcast.net account though, so I wouldn’t think that is the problem.

Hope this info helps! Many thanks,

Sorry, no ideas…
Maybe you can add the following line to the [MailScanner] section of \data\avast4.ini:

Log=20

Then generate some traffic, simulate the problem (i.e. force the avast mail scanner to time out by sending an email with attachment) and then post here the contents of the file \data\log\aswMaiSv.log

I know you’ve already done but, please, put the line
Log=20
into the file avast4.ini under [MailScanner] section to get a detailed logging and then stop & start ‘Internet Mail’ provider, send and receive mails, etc.
After all send the log file Avast4\DATA\log\aswMaiSv.log by mail to Vojtech.
Maybe we can know a little more…
